Itching is one of the primary head lice symptoms. Usually, kids scratch their head all the time without knowing that they have head lice because it’s ticklish to them. Majority of lice infestations happen to kids between 4-11 years old.
Itching happens since lice suck blood to live, as well as for their nourishment. Once they suck the blood, you’ll feel an itch or a little prick on your head.
They usually stay behind the ears or at the nape which is by the shoulder line. Rashes may also be apparent on the said areas. There is a possibility of infection if the case is not treated since the skin may be broken once scratched and the infection starts.

Though it is rare, some cases reveal swollen neck glands. Also, head lice can be seen in thick eyebrows or beard in rare cases, spotting head lice– what they look like but it is always on humans. This infestation is not likely to burrow in dogs or cats, or other furry animals inside in house.
Lice can be found at the back of the neck or the nape area, also behind the ears.
There are also other signs that need to be considered when looking for hair lice. What seems to be big dandruff on the head may actually be “nits” or egg infestation. It may appear like flakes on the hair.
You can identify the egg clearly by using a magnifying glass so you can compare it with what dandruff looks like up close. There are times that pillows inside the house may have infestations that appear like dirt.
Don’t be too complacent if you hair is clean because head lice also stay on dry and clear hair. The reason for this is that they can easily attach their eggs to the strands of the hair that is free from dirt.
Lice stay well on clean hair follicles. If you are still unsure of the information about head lice, it is best to consult a professional to know if one is infested or not.
